About Us

Who We Are?

Nepal Institute for Social and Environmental Research (NISER) – a non-governmental research institution which has been conducting high-standard mixed methods research and evaluations and engaging in research uptake on issues related to migration, gender, adolescence and young people, social protection, poverty and livelihoods, as well as disaster response, both globally and in Nepal for more than a decade.

Since its establishment in 2014, it has led several multi-country and multi-year projects commissioned by private and public, national as well as international partners including the World Bank, DFID/FCDO, IOM, ILO, UNICEF Nepal, USAID, UNICEF Regional Office of South Asia and UNICEF –INNOCENTI and OECD among others.

NISER has a longstanding research partnership with international think tanks and universities across South Asia, the US and Europe. Partners include such as University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA), University of Sussex, University of Coventry, University of Royal Holloway and think tanks such as the ODI, Palladium, Flamingo, BRAC, Development Pathways, SDPI, Sampark, CEPA, Share Trust, STAAR, ITAD, Asper and DAI among others.
